Qing Dynasty Qianlong "Imperial Inscribed Poem" Gold and Silver Colored Landscape Square Teapot
China Guardian 2011 Spring Auction
Price Realized: RMB 8,625,000
The pot is styled as a square and solid vessel, with a square mouth fitted with a lid, a three-bend spout, a slightly constricted pot mouth, a bulging belly, and supported by a square, folded corner base. The mouth and base are decorated with intricate 'huiwen' (a type of interwoven pattern), exuding elegance and luxury.
The clay is of a pure purple hue, as fine and smooth as silk satin, adorned with overall decorative patterns. On one side of the belly, a gold and silver colored landscape is painted, while the other three sides are inscribed with Qianlong's seven-character imperial poem in gold color seal script, complementing each other perfectly. The poem reads: "Imperially crafted. Viewing fish at the Flower Port. The brocade school does not rely on the grandson's throw, in the trained shadow, a myriad of flowers is piled. Set to be the spring waves with the water sprite, the wind and moon at the horizon pride in the splendid Qinghua." Inside the base, there is a seal script inscription in positive text, "Made in the Qianlong year," marking it as an imperial piece.
